Celio Koko is a contemporary Belgian-Lebanese artist who found his voice in the art world during his third decade. Deeply rooted in the legacy of neo-expressionism, his work is defined by a bold presence of abstract figurative forms. His creative journey is one of relentless experimentation and evolution.
Born in Belgium on July 13, 1983, Celio spent a formative eight years in Africa, living between Uganda, Tanzania, and Congo. Immersed in tribal culture, wildlife, and untamed nature, these experiences left a lasting imprint on his artistic vision and continue to shape the emotional and thematic core of his work.
At around 28, a near-death experience profoundly changed the course of his life, prompting him to pursue art with newfound urgency. Initially an emotional refuge, art soon became a path toward self-discovery and personal truth.
Celio’s artistic identity is defined by uncompromising freedom. Rejecting categorization and boundaries, he embraces a multidisciplinary approach, working across media and dimensions. Whether through painting or sculpture, his compositions burst with energy, exploring vibrant color palettes, raw textures, and dynamic forms.
Over the years, he has exhibited in both group and solo shows. His pieces are held in numerous private collections worldwide.
